BERNAL HEIGHTS, SAN FRANCISCO — Residents and visitors planning Halloween activities around Cortland Avenue on Saturday, October 31, 2026, should expect temporary street closures and a detour on Muni’s 24 Divisadero bus route.
Where vehicles will be restricted
The San Francisco Municipal Transportation Agency’s event advisory lists closures from approximately 4:30 to 8 p.m. on Cortland Avenue between Bennington and Gates streets, Moultrie Street between Cortland and Eugenia, Anderson Street between Eugenia and Jarboe, and Ellsworth Street between Cortland and Eugenia. Several intersections along Cortland are also included.
SFMTA identifies an overall temporary transit impact window of approximately 4 to 8:30 p.m., so the bus-routing period is not necessarily identical to the vehicle closure at every intersection.
How the bus service changes
The agency says the 24 Divisadero will be rerouted around the festivities in both directions. Passengers should consult the official advisory and its service map to identify their nearest available stop, rather than wait at a temporarily skipped stop.
Families walking between homes and businesses should follow event signage and watch for vehicles near the edge of the closed area. Drivers should anticipate increased pedestrian activity on other Bernal Heights streets, too, even where no formal closure is posted.
Confirm conditions tonight
These restrictions are scheduled for October 31, not permanent changes to Cortland Avenue. Traffic personnel may adjust specific access points as conditions require. Live SFMTA information and on-street instructions take precedence over previously posted plans.
